SEVEN MAGICAL PROPERTIES OF PEARLS
In the first volume of Catalina, Queen of the Nightlings we learn that, Catalina has a special bond with Pearls. Many believe that gems and stones harness amazing and healing properties. Here are a few spectacular qualities associated with, pearls.
1. Rich in calcium, magnesium, iron, silica and amino acids, pearl powder can help maintain strong bones and teeth and even help prevent osteoporosis.

2. Pearls are the result of an irritation to the soft body of a mollusk. As it tries to soothe the stuck sand or speck, it nourishes the irritation with a layer of nacre, followed by another and another until the pearl is formed. This is why pearls are considered to be gems of nurturing and nourishment.

3. Pearl powder has been used for centuries to prevent the development of melanin, which causes dark skin pigmentation due to age and sun exposure. Pearl powder stimulates something called SOD activity, which utilizes powerful SOD antioxidants to help fade colored blemishes, reduce wrinkling and scarring, and even eliminate the occasional pimple.

4. Rich in calcium, magnesium, iron, silica and amino acids, pearl powder can help maintain strong bones and teeth and even help prevent osteoporosis.

5. Pearls in particular are credited with a very strong absorbing nature; if a happy person wears these pearls, the pearls will be imbued with happiness. The opposite is also the case, however, in which negative emotions may soak into the pearls.
6. Pearls are historically symbolic of purity, innocence and faith, pearls enhance personal integrity and help clear ones mind.
7. It is said that Cleopatra included powdered pearls in all her beverages so as to avoid poisoning. (seems like her challenge with Marc Antony wasn't much of a stretch)
