SEVEN SAPLINGS
Today is Arbor Day in some parts of the world. If that sounds confusing it is because depending on your climate the opportune time to plant trees differs. If you are planting deciduous trees you may want to wait for fall. However, now is a great time for evergreens, citrus and any tree sensitive to frost. In Catalina, Queen of the Nightlings V4 The Nativity. Catalina marvels at a rare, reptilian-like, wooden table built from an extinct Lepiodendron tree. It's impossible to plant one of those tress but here are a few that should be easier to come by..
1. Jacaranda mimosifolia- amazing purple flowers but a limited growth range.
2. Hackberry (Celtis)- Not super exciting but simple, beautiful, clean and shade giving.
3. Dogwood ( Cornus floridia) - Slow growing but spectacular. Now's the time to get them in the ground.
4. Magnolia stellata -This is a lovely deciduous tree with delicate leaves and showy flowers.
5. Maples ( Acer rubrum /palmatum) Too many to love but my favorite for fall color is the rubrum October Glory or for a specimen tree, the Garnet Japanese Maple.
6. Sour Gum ( Nyssa sylvatica) Amazing delicate specimen tree with fantastic fall color.
7. Weeping Cedar ( Cedrus Atlantica glauca pendula) Reminds me of something from the Dr. Seuss universe. If you like weird and wild this tree is for you.
